Update from London
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve blogged here (sorry!) but London has just been such a whirlwind over the past month. I feel like Dorothy trapped in the tornado at this point!
But all is great here I must say. I’m working a 9-5 which I'm really enjoying. It feels good to have some sort of routine again after so much moving around and living out of a suitcase for the past 18 months. I have lots of regular things in my life now… A lease, a weekly pay check, a gym membership, a phone bill, house bills…. It feels very grown up! Haha.
London itself is definitely an adjustment. It’s very different to anywhere I’ve ever lived before so it’s taking me some time to find my feet but I’m getting there. I feel more and more at ease here every day. I’ve met some wonderful people and I’m really enjoying exploring a new city (again!).
Music is going great as well. My piano is being delivered this week from Ireland which is VERY exciting. I’ve been missing it so much. I’ve been dying to write some music but being piano-less that’s been quite difficult, so needless to say when it arrives at the end of this week I’ll probably bash out three or four more originals. Or maybe as luck would have it, I’ll hit writer’s block just as it arrives. I am a Murphy after all so that would be typical of my life!!
I’ve found myself an incredible guitarist (Dan Clark) and we’re both auditioning a few people at the moment to find ourselves a second guitarist so that we can get a three-piece together and start gigging and playing some showcases out around London. I’ve also been having some exciting meetings with labels and publishers here in town,
I’ve got an amazing entertainment attorney working with me and together we are searching for the perfect manager AND I’ve got an exciting radio show coming up in the new year with BBC. So all good things happening here. I really can’t complain at all.
London feels good for music right now. It really feels like I’m in the right place even though it’s definitely daunting and overwhelming at times, but so is everywhere at the beginning I guess. It’s a different scene than I am used to; polar opposite to Nashville which sort of became a second home for me so I am really missing Music City and everybody there. But no doubt I’ll get back there for a visit soon.
That’s about all for now. I’ll be sure to keep y’all updated. There’s lots of exciting news coming your way (I hope!); including an EP launch, some showcases around London and some radio shows too! I’m super excited for it all to take off and I’ve no doubts that it will.
I’ve worked my a** off this past month in London trying to make some ground, meet some people and set myself up! Once I can keep this momentum going, there’ll be no stopping me!!!
Write again sooooooooooooooon
